Any response which was not sent on or before the twentieth working day following receipt has been counted as a late response. Response times for requests due in March and April 2020 (i.e., received during February and March) were delayed by the move to fully remote working in March 2020, in accordance with government policy.

It is quite common for individual emails to include multiple requests for information. The number of requests given in the table is the total number of emails or letters received; multiple requests for information about different topics or MPs have not been counted separately.

Also included in the statistics are requests which are processed on matters which fall outside of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, for example, those that concern allegations which should be considered for regulatory action.

There is no statutory deadline for completing an internal review. IPSA endeavours to follow the information Commissioner’s advice that internal reviews should usually be completed within 20 working days.

Following recruitment earlier in the year of a post with specific responsibility for co-ordinating and managing FOI, in September 2020, we revised our procedures and created a new log for recording and tracking requests and internal reviews; prior to this, it is difficult to ascertain when an internal review was closed.
