Details of rules governing MPs sickness pay

Request

If they exist, please provide the records governing MPs pay while they are sick.  We are interested in the documentation which states MPs are to be paid at their normal rate while they are sick.

For public reference:

This comes as Tory MP Pauline Latham told a constituent to 'Get a life' over low Statutory Sick Pay of just £94 per week while in contrast sick MPs would still get their normal pay of £1528 per week from taxpayers while laid up in bed doing nothing. https://on.rt.com/acx4

Response

I can confirm that we do hold information relevant to your request. The Scheme of MPs’ Business Costs & Expenses details what an MP can claim for and how.

From the date they are elected MPs receive their full salary only and do not, should they become unwell, receive any statutory sick pay.
