Details of MPs’ travel to Israel
Request
You specifically asked for information held by IPSA concerning trips to Israel funded by the Friends of Israel Group for MP's who are members of that group. In particular you asked for the following:
Under the rules of the Green Book are MPs allowed to accept these free trips and all expenses paid visits to Israel?
How many MPs have attended these trips over the period 2013 - 2019?
Does the IPSA support these trips? If not what have the IPSA done about them?
How many MP's have had trips to Palestine paid for by the government there in a similar period?
What is the purpose of these trips to Israel?
Response
IPSA does not hold the information that you request.
The Scheme of MPs’ Business Costs and Expenses sets out IPSA’s rules for MPs’ travel and travel-related subsistence claims for costs incurred in support of their parliamentary functions.
The rules allow MPs to claim for the cost of travel to European countries; this does not include trips to Israel.
IPSA does not hold information about costs paid for by third-party organisations.
Information about IPSA’s remit and publication of MPs’ business costs is available on the IPSA website.
