Under the Scheme of MPs’ Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’), MPs can claim reimbursement for professional services, where services which support the MPs’ parliamentary functions are provided by companies, self-employed individuals and others not on the MP’s payroll.

As you may be aware, we publish details of all claims made by MPs for business costs and expenses on our website. The following details of the claims specified in your request have already been published.

Section 40 – personal information

We have withheld the names and data relating to third party individuals, including the names and details relating to junior staff members. Section 40(2) provides that personal information (as defined by the Data Protection Act) about third parties is exempt information if disclosure would breach the fair processing principle (Principle 1) of the DPA, where it would be unfair to those persons or is confidential.
