Expenses and interests of Owen Paterson MP

Request

I seek the following information under the UK freedom of information act in relation to Owen Paterson MP. He has recently taken up a part time business role as President of Randox Laboratories Ltd.

  1. The details of his remuneration package, including expenses and stock options are not listed under the register of Members interests. Why is this?

  2. Is Owen Paterson required to list all expenses, fees and other financial earnings associated with his role with Randox Laboratories Ltd?

Kindly provide full details of Owen Paterson's remuneration, including expenses, bonuses, any stock options accrued to him in relation to his part time business role as President of Randox Laboratories Ltd.

In the event that you do not have this information kindly identify where it might be located.

Response

As you may be aware, the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) was established in 2010 to administer and regulate the system of MPs’ business costs and expenses.

You can find details of all claims made by all MPs under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’) in each financial year since May 2010 on our publication website, at the following address: http://www.parliamentary-standards.org.uk/AnnualisedData.aspx. This will provide you with details of all claims made by Mr Paterson under the Scheme, alongside remuneration received in his role as an MP.

IPSA is wholly independent of Parliament, and is not responsible for the MPs’ Code of Conduct or for issues relating to MPs’ outside interests. As such, IPSA does not hold the information that you have requested relating to Mr Paterson’s role with Randox Laboratories Ltd.

The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is responsible for overseeing the operation of the Register of Members’ Financial Interests and the other Registers, and may be able to provide you with further information in response to your enquiries. Further information on the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, including details on how to contact, can be found at the following address: http://www.parliament.uk/pcs.
