Names of MPs who have not repaid accommodation and office deposit loans

Request

Under a FOI request could I ask how many MPs of the 2010-2015 Parliament failed to repay in full advances for offices and accommodation.

Additionally to the above could you name the MP of the above parliament and the amount still owed to IPSA?

Response

Under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’), an MP who intends to claim rental costs for either accommodation or an office, may apply to IPSA for a loan to cover any deposit payable at the commencement of a tenancy.

These loans are required to be repaid in full to IPSA no later than one month after the date on which the tenancy comes to an end or, where the MP leaves Parliament, after the end of the Winding Up period[1] (whichever is earlier).

As such, these loans are not yet due for repayment and IPSA does not hold the information that you have requested.

[1] As set out in paragraph 8.6 of the Scheme.
