Amounts estimated for staff redundancies as a result of standing down MPs

Request

Under a FOI, could I ask how much has be estimated by IPSA to be claimed in monies for staff redundancies for the 87 declared currently not standing for re-election mp's from the contingency fund ?

Additionally what is the maximum that can be claimed monetary wise per MP from the same fund as above to cover accommodation after standing down from parliament on March 31st?

Response

IPSA holds the information that you request.

We hold an estimate which was calculated on 8 January 2015 and relates to the 78 MPs who had announced their intention to stand down on that date. We estimate that £2,051,284.07 will be incurred.

With regard your second question, paragraph 8.9 of the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses states that MPs may continue to claim for accommodation rental payments and/or associated expenditure for a maximum of two months after leaving Parliament. These costs will be met from the Contingency Fund.
