Total number of claims for 2012-13 and how many weren't paid

Can you provide me with the following information please.

  • The total number of expenses claims submitted by MPs for financial year 2012/2013.

  • The total number of those claims that were rejected as not being considered necessarily incurred so as the claimant could properly perform their duties.

IPSA holds the information that you request.

IPSA publishes details of all claims for business costs and expenses on our website every two months, three months in arrears.  The annualised data relating to all claims made by Members of Parliament during the 2012/13 financial year was recently published on our website on 12 September 2013.  You can view the published information via this link to our publication website.  

For ease, 187,311 claims were made by Members of Parliament for business costs and expenses incurred during the 2012/13 financial year.  Of these, 258 claims were not paid.  You can view the reasons why particular claims were not paid by following the steps provided above and downloading the published data.

For your reference, the next publication date is 14 November 2013, and will cover those claims processed by IPSA during June to July 2013.  Claims subsequently processed by IPSA will follow in future publications.
