Expense claims for iTunes downloads
Request
Copies of all receipts/claims made by members for downloads from iTunes. The service (iTunes) regularly bills users when they make purchases. Please may I have copies of all these, or a collated version broken down by each MP.
Response
Claims made by Members of Parliament for expenses legitimately incurred as a result of their work are governed by the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’). Any claims made for expenditure incurred downloading from the iTunes Store for entertainment purposes, such as music, television programmes or films, would not be allowed under the Scheme and would therefore not be paid.
We conducted a test, nonetheless, to check for any expense claims made for any other kind of download from the iTunes Store, such as newspaper subscriptions or educational material. According to our records, no such claims have been made.
