iPads models claims by MPs

Request

Under an FOI request could I ask what particular model of IPad has each MP who has, claimed for on expenses?

Response

IPSA holds the information that you request.

The models of iPads claimed are, in most cases, not itemised by the MP and are submitted as bills or invoices.  In order to provide you with a breakdown of the iPad models claims by MPs, we would need to conduct a search through all bills and invoices submitted to us since May 2010 and extract the following details:

  • Storage capacity: 16, 32 or 64GB

  • Connectivity: Wifi or 3G

  • iPad version: iPad 1, 2 or 3 or iPad mini

This would involve undertaking searches through all the hardcopy invoices and receipts since May 2010 to extract the relevant specifications.

We undertook a test to estimate the amount of time it would take to locate, retrieve and extract the relevant information held by IPSA.  We estimate that it would take 126.5 hours of staff time which takes us over the appropriate cost limit of £450 (part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act).  Consequently, IPSA is not obliged to respond to your request (see section 12(1), FOIA).
