Payments to MPs through third parties

Request

  1. Please can you tell me how many staff working for Members of Parliament receives payment for their work through a personal service company?

  2. For the last financial year what was the total sum paid for in this way?

  3. What was the largest sum received by one individual in the last financial year?

Response

IPSA holds does not hold the information that you request.

IPSA pays all MPs’ staff salaries directly into their bank accounts via the PAYE process and do not make payments to third parties.  PAYE (pay as you earn) is the process by which HM Revenues and Customs (HMRC) collect income tax and national insurance from pay as it is earned.
