Gordon Brown's attendance in Parliament and IPSA's running costs

Request

  1. Since the last election how many days has the former PM Gordon Brown attended the House of Commons?

  2. Are MPs required to attend the House for a specific number of days per month/annum to qualify for a full salary?

  3. Mr G Brown is reported as earning additional monies on lectures/tours etc. are there any rules which forbid this since he is already being paid by us/the taxpayer?

  4. We understand your particular “Quango” costs the taxpayer £6.7 million per annum, please confirm if correct?

Response

In response to questions 1-3 we do not hold the requested information. This part of your request should be redirected to the House of Commons FOI Team who will be able to assist you. Attached is the link to the FOI section on the House of Commons website http://www.parliament.uk/site-information/foi/.

Turning to the final part of your request regarding the cost of IPSA. I can confirm that IPSA’s operational budget for 2010-11 is £6.153m. Note that IPSA is not a “Quango” or a Non Departmental Public Body and is not a part of the civil service. It is a wholly independent body created by statute.
