I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information, in relation to Jeff Smith - Member of Parliament for Manchester Withington 2015-present.

Could you inform me;

  1. What was the location, including first line address and postal code, of Jeff Smith's temporary office in the year 2015-2016 for which he claimed £4,000 in office rental expenses under claim reference: 493437

  2. The above claim (493437) states it is for 8 months temporary office rental, can you clarify exactly from which date (dd/mm/yyyy) to which date (dd/mm/yyyy) this office was rented?

Under the MPs' Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses ('the Scheme'), Office Costs Expenditure (OCE) is provided to meet the costs of running, equipping and maintaining an office (or offices). This includes the renting of one or more premises to be used as a constituency office, each of which must be registered with IPSA before a rental claim is made.

As such, we hold the following information relating to the temporary constituency office used by Mr Smith, the rental costs for which were claimed under the terms of the Scheme.

  • Tenancy dates: 1 June 2015 until 29 February 2016
