Please can I be supplied with all the free text responses from the recent Annual User Survey. Can the responses by broken down to be clear which are from MPs and which from staff.

IPSA holds the information that you request.

As you will be aware, since 2012, IPSA has carried out an Annual User Survey of MPs, which is intended to capture a range of opinions and feedback, allowing IPSA to have a better understanding of the needs of our users. This year we widened the scope of the survey to include all MPs’ staff. All staff who work for MPs are likely to have some interaction with IPSA, so we wanted to get the widest possible breadth of opinion on the support we provide and how we can improve.

In addition to questions where MPs and staff were asked to rate different aspects of our services, they were also invited to give more detailed feedback on areas where they feel we could improve, through a number of free-text fields.

A report on the key findings of the survey is available on our website, which includes summaries of the results, alongside details of all of the questions asked. Please find attached, in Annex A, a copy of all the free text responses received, broken down by those that were made by MPs and those made by staff.

On a small number of occasions where individual junior staff members at IPSA are identified, we have redacted their names under section 40 of the FOIA. Section 40(2) provides that personal information about third parties is exempt information if one of the conditions set out in section 40(3) is satisfied. Under the FOI Act disclosure of this information would breach the fair processing principle (Principle 1) of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA), where it would be unfair to those persons or is confidential.
