Use of consultants by IPSA in relation to its pay and pensions report

Request

I would be grateful if you could tell me whether all the research and analysis which went into the report was done in-house by IPSA staff or if consultants were used, and if so who they were and how much the work cost.

Response

IPSA does not hold the information that you request.

The research and analysis for the production of this consultation document was chiefly conducted by IPSA staff. However, some advice was received from Hymans Robertson, Addleshaw Goddard, DLA Piper and the Government Actuary.

These suppliers have also provided advice in support of other areas of work of IPSA, including in relation to IPSA’s annual review of the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses.  We do not hold information that allows us to separately identify the cost of the work undertaken by consultants specifically in relation to this document.
