Salaries paid to IPSA staff

Request

  1. Can you advise what effect a rise of £10000 in MPs salaries would have on the existing IPSA salaries

  2. Who are the people responsible for determining the comparative external references and the influence of these references on IPSA salary bands.

Response

IPSA holds some of the information that you request.

Taking your questions in turn:

  • Can you advise what effect a rise of £10000 in MPs salaries would have on the existing IPSA salaries.

IPSA's consultation on MPs’ pay and pensions, launched on 11 July 2013, presents IPSA’s recommendations for a package of remuneration for Members of Parliament.

This consultation does not relate in any way to, nor has any effect on the remuneration of staff members of IPSA.

  • Who are the people responsible for determining the comparative external references and the influence of these references on IPSA salary bands.

IPSA’s current salary bands are based on salary bandings used by the civil service and were adopted by the Implementation Team when IPSA was established in 2010.
