Research and monitoring of Members of Parliament

Request

Further, it is amazing that you spend taxpayers’ money monitoring MPs’ tweets, and selectively quote from them...  How much does this cost the taxpayer and what other surreptitious ‘research’ or monitoring do you do of Members of Parliament?  Have you for instance employed private detectives or others to photograph MPs, follow them home, research their background or personal circumstances, or other such subterfuge?  And one presumes you have used taxpayers’ money to carry out such salacious and morally wrong activities.

Response

IPSA does not carry out the activities to which you refer in your request.

IPSA’s powers are determined by the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009 and the amending Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010, neither of which confers powers on IPSA under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 or any other Acts for investigative powers such that you reference in your request.

Therefore, I can confirm that IPSA does not hold the information that you request.
