MPs who claim expenses for the rental of the same property

Request

Can you please send me the names of non-London MPs who claim expenses for rental of the same London property ie MPs who share a flat in London, and who both claim expenses for the rental of that flat.

Can you please tell me how much IPSA has paid out in total, to date, for each individual property.

Response

IPSA holds the information that you request.

There are 14 non-London MPs who claim expenses for the shared rental of the same London property.  The names of those MPs and the total amount paid by IPSA to date for each property are attached in Annex A.

It should be noted that the total amount paid by IPSA to date refers only to the MPs’ current properties and makes no distinction between the lengths of the MPs’ respective arrangements.  It stands to reason that MPs who have claimed expenses for the rental of the same London property since IPSA began operations in May 2010 would show as having claimed considerably more than MPs whose current property arrangements have only been in place for a few months.  The total amounts provided in Annex A are, consequently, not directly comparable.  For your clarification, we have therefore also provided payments by financial year.
