Claims by Louise Mensch for business costs and expenses
Request
How much is Louise Mensch claiming under office winding up expenses for being an ex-mp? Also how many members if staff where made redundant?
Response
Under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (the ‘Scheme’), claims for winding up expenditure may be made to “to meet the cost of completing the outstanding parliamentary functions of a person who ceases to be an MP”. Claims for winding up expenditure may only be claimed for business costs and expenses incurred during the two month period after leaving Parliament. The Scheme allows a maximum of 90 days for submission of claims after a business cost or expense has been incurred.
The winding up timetable for Louise Mensch is as follows:
Description | Date |
Last day as an MP | 29 August 2012 |
First day winding up expenditure may be incurred | 30 August 2012 |
Last day winding up expenditure may be incurred | 29 October 2012 |
90 day claim submission period concludes (the last day that claims for winding up expenditure incurred on 29 October 2012 may be submitted) | 27 January 2012 |
The winding up period does not conclude until 29 October 2012 and, therefore, we do not hold the information relating to the first part of your request.
The second part of your request refers to staff redundancies made during the winding up period. To date, we are not aware of any staff redundancies having been made during this period. As set out above, the winding up period has not yet concluded and so we do not hold the information relating to the second part of your request.
