Cost of mobile data plans claimed by MPs

Request

How much is spent on a monthly basis with the mobile phone networks to provide MP’s with data for Tablet & Mobile phone devices

Response

IPSA holds the information that you request.

Claims for services provided by mobile phone networks are, in most cases, not itemised by the MP and are submitted as bills or invoices.  In order to provide you with the amount MPs have spent on mobile data on a monthly basis, we would need to conduct a search through all bills and invoices submitted to us in the last month and isolate the cost of data plans.  This would involve undertaking searches through all the hardcopy invoices and receipts to isolate charges for data plans.

We undertook a test to estimate the amount of time it would take to locate, retrieve and extract the relevant information held by IPSA.  We estimate that it would take 21 hours of staff time which takes us over the appropriate cost limit of £450 (part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Freedom of Information Act).  Consequently, IPSA is not obliged to respond to your request (see section 12(1), FOIA).
