Tony Blair's expenses

Request

I am writing to obtain information about Tony Blair’s expenses. We acknowledge, from numerous media reports, that paper records of the expense claims have been shredded. However we request that IPSA check computerised (or other) records of financial transactions, records of bank transfers or any other source that has been bequeathed by legacy organisations to provide this information. We feel that although the paper records may have been destroyed, some record must still exist that documents the transfer of money from IPSA’s legacy organisations to Tony Blair.

To outline my query as clearly as possible, I am requesting:

  1. A full record of all financial transactions/bank transfers made by IPSA’s legacy organisations to Tony Blair from May 1997 – Jun 2007.

  2. Please break these down where possible by type of transaction (pay, expenses etc).

Response

Thank you for your email which has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I can confirm that IPSA does not hold the requested information.

IPSA took over responsibilities for MPs' expenses after the General Election in May 2010. Any expenses claimed and reimbursed before this date were the responsibility of the Department of Resources in the House of Commons.

You may therefore wish to direct your request to the House of Commons (http://www.parliament.uk/site-information/foi/foi-general/commons-foi/, foicommons@parliament.uk) who may be able to help you further.
