Details of any expenses payments for an MP's house renovation

Request

I understand that the Chancellor has declined to use the flat the state provides the office holder at no. 11 Downing Street. I noticed Mr Osborne’s house in Notting Hill today is in the middle of an extensive renovation programme. Could you please tell me whether the tax payer is paying for these works – and if so the amount and why?

Response

IPSA’s expenses scheme for MPs does not allow MPs to claim for building or maintenance work on residential accommodation. No public funds dispersed by IPSA are therefore committed to renovation works at any MPs’ homes.
