Dear Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, Could you please release the list of all staff (names, job roles etc) employed by Jack Dromey MP in both his constituency and Westminster Offices?
You requested information relating to Mr Jack Dromey MP’s staff. Your request has been handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). I can confirm that IPSA holds the information that falls within the description specified in your request.
IPSA will in due course publish a list of all MPs’ staff paid from public funds, listed by job function. IPSA will at the same time publish the names of those staff paid from public funds who are connected parties. This information is therefore exempt under Section 22 (Information intended for future publication) of the FOIA.
In IPSA’s view, the names of individual members of staff employed by Mr Jack Dromey MP are exempt under section 40 (personal information) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), as the information constitutes third party data. Section 40(2) provides that personal data about third parties is exempt information if one of the conditions set out in section 40(3) is satisfied. (Please see http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000/36/contents). Under the FOI Act disclosure of this information would breach the fair processing principle contained in the Data Protection Act (DPA), where it would be unfair to those persons or is confidential.
